Farming systems: facing uncertainties and enhancing opportunities

Field Trips

Dear IFSA2018 participants,

You are welcome to join us on a full day field trip on Tuesday, the 3rd of July and explore local farms and agro-food industries of Crete.

The five available options are listed below.

1st option

Participants will visit a local farm focusing on the organic cultivation of avocado, citrus and olive trees (www.metochi-kalliteraki.gr/). A guided tour will be also offered to the olive groves, vineyards and winery of the Monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) Tzagarolon (http://vinolio.gr/holy-trinity/). The excursion will close by the seaside (Apokoronas area) for lunch, swimming and relaxation.

(Maximum number of participants: 50)

2nd option

Participants will have the opportunity to visit the Creta Carob company (https://cretacarob.com/en/) and a local organic avocado farm located in Argyroupoli village of Rethymno regional unit. The excursion will close by the seaside (Apokoronas area) for lunch, swimming and relaxation.

(Maximum number of participants: 50)

3rd option

Participants will visit Cretian Feast, a local company cultivating and processing aromatic and medicinal herbs (http://www.kritikipandaisia.4ty.gr/?l=en). The excursion will continue with a guided tour in Dourakis winery (https://dourakiswinery.gr/) and will close by the seaside (Apokoronas area) for lunch, swimming and relaxation.

(Maximum number of participants: 50)

4th option

First, participants will visit a local farm with avocado, olive trees, and then they will be guided in the local brewery “Charma” (www.cretanbeer.gr/en/). The excursion will close by the seaside (western Chania area) for lunch, swimming and relaxation.

(Maximum number of participants: 40)

5th option

Two guided tours will be offered to the Terra Creta Olive mill (www.terracreta.gr) and Anoskeli Olive mill and winery (www.anoskeli.gr/en). The excursion will close by the seaside (western Chania area) for lunch, swimming and relaxation.

(Maximum number of participants: 50)

 

Important notes

All field trips will depart from the MAICh Conference Centre.

Seats are limited and available on a first come first served basis.

When registration system closes (June 8), we will get in touch with you to ask you to indicate your preferences among the above mentioned five options.
